First thing you need to try when PS3 freezes or crashes is a single press in the ON button the led will start blinking and after several seconds the PS3 reboots or turns off (i dont remember but one of those) Incase a single press doesnt works then you need to make a long press (and hold) the ON button.

With the console off, press the power button and hold it down. Continuing holding the power button until it powers back off. Push and hold the power button again, causing it to beep, then double beep. Finally, release the power button and you should get the screen with the different options.

Keep it at distance of a few cm/inches.

No matter what I do, I can't get the PS3 to react in any other way. Pressing the power button, holding the power button, pressing the eject button, and pressing the PS button on the controller all do nothing. The same thing happens if I try to turn it on without the hard drive inside. There's already a disc in it, so I can't try putting a disc in. Hg2W.
